Happy Monday!
Today in literacy we worked on stretching our sentences. We looked at nouns and verbs, and discovered that if we include them in our sentences we start to add more detail.
Here are some examples of our work,
Also in science we talked about Entomologists and why bugs are important. We were given the question, "Why are bugs important?" and were able to explain in our writing journals why we think they are. In the next few weeks, we will be learning more about bugs and how they help in protecting our environment, and their impact on the world around us.
Also just a reminder that these were sent home from school today
This is a program that is offered at the Calgary library, and is free. Its a great way for students who want to practice math more, and is held at every public library location in the city. You are able to find the times for your own library at their website! https://events.calgarylibrary.ca/programs/online-registration/?6cSvmEcBQgTjAfcxw4Mu6R%2fBSvr9IRO5GG0QAl7dEGIoBE2hiIJpZkh37FF8OFKN%20=

September 20, 2019
On Friday,
September 27th, Royal Oak School and William D. Pratt School will be
participating in the Terry Fox Run.
Students will gather on the field between the two schools to take part
in the annual 30-minute run, which is scheduled to begin at 11:00am. Students attending afternoon Kindergarten are
welcome to attend, if they are accompanied by a supervising adult.
On this day please
ensure that your child is appropriately dressed for the weather (including
running shoes). If the weather is poor,
students will walk inside the school during their PE class time. We are
encouraging students to wear Royal Blue to show their school spirit!
We are asking that
each child donate a “Toonie for Terry” for the Terry Fox Foundation during the
week of September 23rd-27th.
All
parents/guardians who are interested in joining their child/children in this
event are more than welcome.
We do require a
fair number of volunteers for this event to ensure its success. If you have security clearance and if you are
able to volunteer during the run time, kindly contact our school Volunteer
Coordinator at rosvolunteers@gmail.com.
