Halloween Reminders

Dear Parents, We would like to take this opportunity to remind families about Halloween festivities on Thursday, October 31. Students should arrive at school dressed in their costumes, as there will not be an opportunity for them to get dressed at school.  Please do not send your children in costumes that include masks, weapons, accessories or blood and gore.  Also, students need to be able to independently manage their costumes, for things like bathroom breaks, going outside for recess, lunch, etc.  A Halloween parade will take place at 9:30 am on Thursday, October 31 and parents are invited to watch. Please arrive a few minutes early so you can get a seat in the gym! As students are learning about healthy eating, we ask that parents do not send any special treats or snacks to share with other students. PM Kindergarten students are asked to arrive at school dressed in their costumes.  Again, please do not send your children in costumes that include masks, weapons, accessories or blood and gore. Happy Halloween, Royal Oak School Literacy:  Today in literacy we just learned about the way in which we  can express connections we make in our reading. The one we worked on today was called 'Text to Self' and we were able to explore our connections together during with our group. Our book that we read was about a monkey who experienced being grumpy for the first time, and had some help from a good friend on how to work on becoming happy again using some calming strategies.  Here are some of our posters that we were working on:

Writing: 
This week we have been working on using adjectives and verbs in our sentences using our good friends Action Ant and Juicy Junebug. 
As well we have been working on stretching our sentences, such as starting with the sentence 'The Ant is small' and stretching the sentence out by adding more of our juicy words. 

Ask me to create a sentence with you using the describing words I have been learning in class.
