A great first week back!

In Literacy this week:
In literacy this week we have continued to practice reading like news reporters, and have worked on as a class reflecting on our peers strengths and giving them  two stars and a wish. Through this, we realized that by listening to the respectful wish's and two stars from our peers we become better readers, as we know what we need to work on.

Next we learned how to do a self reflection on how we did ourselves. At first this was tough, but as we kept writing and reading we saw that continuing to work on our fluency is a great thing and that even the best readers still need to work on their fluency. Image result for fluency anchor chartImage result for fluency anchor chart
This is a picture we always look at, because for awhile we just though that fluency meant reading with expression. Now we know it means a lot of things, and we are working at all of these things to become better readers.

Thank you to all of the students that sent in videos of themselves reading, we can't wait to see more on Monday!

In Math this week:
This week we reviewed patterns and participated in pattern centers. We learned a lot about patterns and can't wait to tell you about them, here are some pictures below, see if I can tell you whether one is a growing or repeating and why.

This week in Inquiry:
We worked on building our magnetic inventions, while doing this we learned about the 'Design Thinking Process' and used that to understand what problem we were going to solve with our invention and why that problem was important.

We also are starting to learn about the Arctic next week, so our teachers gave us time to sketch in our visual journals about anything and everything we knew about the Arctic already.
Heres what some of our brainstorming looked like:
