Updates on This Week

This week in Math: 
This week in math we have been working on using number lines to Jump, Skip, and Hop to a two digit number we have chosen. Then we have been working on creating addition equations and using a number line to solve them.

See if I can draw a number line to show you the Jumps, Skips, and Hops in the number 27.

This week in Literacy: 
This week in literacy we have been looking at the cause and effect within the story.

When reading this weekend, ask me about the cause and effects within my story. Is there any? Can I identify the cause and the effect? Maybe I could draw it for you!


This week in Writing: 
This week in writing we have been working on creating the draft of our insect paragraph. We have been working as COPs to identify whether we have included capitals at the beginning of our sentences, and punctuation at the end. As well, we have been working at revising our work, using checklists and bullseye rubrics. This helps us become editors and be the best writers we can be!

See if there is a book or a topic that I LOVE. Then, we can create a paragraph together, and I can show you what a paragraph should look like and how I can add my descriptive words to make my sentences juicer.





These are Transition words, we use them our writing to indicate the beginning, middle and end. Also, we use them to connect all of our sentences together within our paragraph. Green is in the beginning, Yellow is for the middle of my paragraph, and Red is for the end.

This week in Literacy:  This week in literacy we have continued on Reading Like a News Reporter. What we have been focusing on this week is finding words within our articles that we may have trouble with or do not know the meaning of. Yesterday and today we worked on Iris, and answered questions such as, "What makes me learn best?" We focused on our reading, what we want to work on, what are areas of growth are. Some of us posted a comment on IRIS. Insect/Bug Centres! This week we have been practicing doing our best work at our Insect/Bug Centres. When we are at a centre we are practicing working in a group. We are practicing reading and talking about instructions.
