Cause and Effect, Number Lines, Reading like a News Reporter, Reminders

Reminders: 
The ATP field trip is coming up on Dec 4th. Please make sure you have submitted your payments online before the field trip. 

 We are hoping to make Christmas ornaments with old Christmas cards. If you can, bring some of your old Christmas cards to school that would be great!

 This week in Literacy: 
This week we have continued to work on cause and effect. Continue to ask me about the cause and effects that are in my reading. If you want, I can write them out and act them out for you. Being able to identify what the cause and effect is within the story is very important, and helps make my understanding stronger. 


 This week in Math: 
This week we have now transitioned from using number lines to count from zero to a two digit number to using number lines to solve two digit addition problems. 
Here are some problems you can practice with me at home, 
22+11=
36+10=
26+17=
43+34=

This coming week in Literacy: 
This coming week we will be working on reading like news reporters and practicing our reading fluency. 
Our homework is to print an article from https://teachingkidsnews.com/. If you are not able to print it out, feel free to e mail me the one your child wanted and I will print it out for Monday.

This week in Literacy:  This week in literacy we have continued on Reading Like a News Reporter. What we have been focusing on this week is finding words within our articles that we may have trouble with or do not know the meaning of. We have been searching these words up on  https://www.wordhippo.com/  and then continued to write our new words down in our words words booklet.  We also talked about what synonyms are and continued to brainstorm how we could look for a synonyms in order to further understand these new words. Yesterday and today we worked on Iris, and answered questions such as, "What makes me learn best?" We focused on our reading, what we want to work on, what are areas of growth are. Some of us posted a comment on IRIS. Insect/Bug Centres! This week we have been practicing doing our best work at our Insect/Bug Centres. When we are at a centre we are practicing working in a group. We are practicing reading and talking about instructions.
