We had a great first day! 😊
This morning we got to know each other, and get to know all the names in our class. Ask me some of the names I learned today in class, and maybe even some of the new relationships I started.
We also started creating our name tags for our hooks, and were very creative in how we designed each of them. Every one of them is so unique!
Later we read the book "First Day Jitters" by Julie Danneberg.

After we read the book, we worked on creating sentence starters. This way we could share our memories of grade 1, and be able to talk about our feelings when it comes to starting Grade 2.

Example: My favorite thing about Grade 1 was math because it was my favorite subject.

Example: I feel nervous about Grade 2 because I am in a new school this year.

We really had fun with this writing activity, and were able to have some thoughtful discussions on their feelings regarding the first day.
Home communication folders were sent home today, busing students did not receive it but they will be able to take theirs home tomorrow. Please ensure your child brings it every day even if there is nothing in it. It helps them remember the routine when they have to take it out of their backpack. It will not always come home, only if there are new forms or communication pieces.
