This week in Literacy: This week in literacy we have been learning about various character traits. We've been looking at Elephant and Piggy books, and describing both the Elephant and Piggy and what makes them unique as characters and how we would describe them when looking at outside and inside traits. This week in Inquiry: We also got to watch Bill Nye the science guy talk about heat and hot and cold temperatures. We learned three ways that heat transfers its energy: conduction, convection and radiation. We have also been working with Robots this past week and this week. This week since we felt more comfortable with the Robots we were given a challenge! With a partner we created one repeating pattern with our robot and a gro wing pattern. Hope everyone had a great holiday break! This week we have continued to read like news reporters. Some of us took our articles that we had brought home over the break and recorded ourselves reading them. This way we were able to see where we improved in our reading and what we need to work on. Today we reflected on our fluency checklist and talked about what parts we feel we need to work on, it was a really great self reflection! Just a reminder that we are sharing all of the videos of us reading in class everyday, if you could help me out at home to do this that would be great! It works best if you e mail them as IRIS hasnt been working so far.
