Happy Tuesday!
This week in literacy we've been working on reading silently to ourselves, and continuing to practice and model what that looks like.
This week we've worked on bringing in a few strategies to help us when we may struggle with our reading, or to fall back on when we feel stuck on a word. I have put the ones we have been working on down below.
At home, you can help me work on these strategies while I am reading. It also helps to know that there are three ways to read a book, and that if we ever get stuck on a word we can always read the picture as well to help us figure out what it may mean.
Ask me how sketching like a scientist is different from sketching a picture.
Also: If you would like to volunteer in the classroom, feel free to e mail me! We would love to have you :)

These are some ways at home in which we can practice the strategies together at home.
In our time with inquiry this afternoon, we talked about what it means to be a scientist. Then we dived further into the scientific method, and even got to look at some bugs! We then practiced sketching like a scientist by examining, drawing, labeling, thinking, and wondering about an insect specimen.
